Rettet die Meeresschule Giglio / salva l'istituto

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year all class and study trips to our institute until August 2020 were cancelled. Of course, this is a necessary measure but it threatens our existence!

The Institute of Marine Biology (www.ifmb.com) was founded in 1988 and is still financed exclusively by its marine biology events.

We are passionate biologists who share their enthusiasm for the sea with as many people as possible. On the Italian island Giglio we organize marine biology lectures and intensive courses for schools, universities and interested groups. We create experiences that everyone remembers with pleasure - even years later ...

Our employees, trainees and guests grow so close to our hearts that they keep coming back .... You feel like you're in an extended family and together we have been able to give over 7,000 pupils and students an insight into a new unknown world over the past five years, while covering our running costs.

But what our guests do not know:
- The average fixed costs of the institute are 18 000 €/month.
- The institute can only keep itself afloat if we have at least 1,200 pupils/students per year. (The average is 1 400 students/year).
- Our course fees are low enough to fit into the budget of schools and universities.
- All employees work at the institute with passion and conviction. Because all our salaries are just above the minimum wage.
- There are no financial reserves as these have already been used up over the winter break.

We ask you to help us! With a small donation you can support our heart project and thus promote education in the area of human and environment.

Please share our appeal for donations with as many people as possible, so that we can receive plenty of support for our livelihood. We thank you and wish you good health.

Was unsere Gäste jedoch nicht wissen:
- Die durchschnittlichen Fixkosten des Instituts entsprechen 18 000 €/Monat. (Miete & Nebenkosten, Gehälter, Verbindlichkeiten, Dienstleistungen Dritter, Versicherungen, laufende Kosten ...)
